PRINTER TROUBLESHOOTING

There are mainly three types of printers: DMP, Inkjet and Laser. There is a lot of difference in the printing technology of all three, but all may face similar problems such as paper not fiddle, printout is unclear, printing stops in the middle,  Etc. Printer is an electromechanical device, so if it malfunctions, it should first be found out whether the problem is with the printer mechanism or with the printer's mechanism or with the printer's electronics device, usually the problem is with the printer's mechanism itself, the printer error is divided into three parts. Has been distributed.

Self Test: Every printer has the facility of self test, through this facility the printout can be removed from the printer even without a computer, the data received from the sell test is located in the ROM of the printer.  Which can be achieved by pressing the control switches of the printer.  In

DMP Printer to do self testizklr, by putting the paper on FF and keeping the On Line switch pressed, and leaving the switch pressed as soon as the head is moved, there are different methods of self test in Laser and Deskjet. 

The correct printout in Self test indicates that the printer is fine.  When the self test is bad, the error is from the printer and not from the system.  Main Errors coming in

Dot Matrix Printer: Character received in

Printout is not complete Character is getting cut off. 

·        Some pins in the print head unit are broken.  Replace them. 

·        Some coil of the print head has got damaged due to which some pins are not getting fired. 

·        The cable between the circuit and the head of the printer has been cut from somewhere. Or loose.

·        Some Transistor or IC installed in the Amplifier Circuit giving Amplified Signal to Pin are bad, replace them.  Characters will not be clearly visible even if the correct driver software is not available for the printer being used.  Some pins of the print head unit get jammed due to dryness of the ink and do not work, clean the printer head and replace the ribbon. 

Print is correct but very light. 

·        The ink of the Ribbon Cartridge is gone. Refill or replace it.

·        The print head is fixed in the far back. Fix it slightly forward with the Head Adjustment Liver. 

Printer itself is not doing paper feed, there is a need to get paper feed through Roller KNOB. 

·        The paper sensor in the printer has gone bad.

·        The paper sensor got loose, its adjustment has gone bad. 

·    The setting of the dip switch in the printer circuit is misaligned, set it with the help of the printer manual book.

·        The wiring between the circuit and the sensor of the printer has been missed. 

The printer is feeding the paper crookedly and is sleeping between the paper roller.

·        DMP printers have a lever to adjust the roller, by this Friction and 'Tractor' two modes can be selected.  Only computer paper is used in 'Tractor' mode.  Computer paper is attached to the tractor.  With the help of which the paper is fed easily, in this the utility of the roller is reduced and the paper can easily slide between the rollers. 

Single Paper or Xerox Paper is used in Friction Mode, it feeds the paper as it moves.  Here the roller feeds the paper along with its rotation.

·        In the event of the paper being asleep, test whether the roller is on the tractor side. 

·        Servicing the Mechanism of the Printer and Adjust the Lever of the Roller. 

·        This problem can come even if the roller is greased. 

 Is leaving too much space in the top by feeding the printer paper.  When less space is left by the software setting. 

·        This problem is related to the programming of the printer.  This can be set by the controller switch of the printer.  Its information is also given with the 'control witch' or its information is also there in the manual book of the printer. 

Printer is stopping the printing in the middle.  (The printer remains on)

·        The printer is not receiving enough volts. I am Low Voltage. 

·        Replace the interface cable between the printer and the computer, it may be defective. 

·        Check that both the computer and printer ends are properly connected to the printer cable, there may be loose connection. 

·        There may be a fault in the circuit of the printer. 

·        Printer is blocking the head by trapping the Ribbon Replace the Ribbon hinge. 

·        Printer Mechanism needs Servicing Mechanism has jammed. 

Half the page is being printed, the rest of the matter is not being printed and the page is being left half blank.

. The correct size paper has not been selected by the Printer Driver Software.  The paper size of the size paper you are using, select the same size by the software. 

. If two printers are being used by one printer sharer then the sharer device may be defective.  The correct device driver of the printer has not been installed. Check the printout by removing the share. 

The given printout is not being received correctly, wrong size on the paper and printout is being received at the wrong place.  Where as Matter is showing right on the screen.

·        The driver of the printer is wrong, after matching the printer model and brand, install the correct driver software. 

·        Try replacing the interface cable.

·        If the printer sharing device is installed, then test it by removing it.  Sharer can be defective.  Despite having

Paper Feed, the indicator of Paper out is glowing

·        Paper Sensor is bad. 

. Alignment of the dip switch in the printer circuit is wrong, set it.  

·        The circuit of the printer is bad. 

Printing continues even after the paper is over, the message of Paper Out is not being received.

·        Check the connection of the Paper Sensor.

·        Set the Dip switch. 

Paper is getting jammed and paper is getting stuck in the middle of printing.  (All LED blinks start burning.)

·        Servicing the printer.  The printer mechanism has jammed. 

·        Printer's Ribbon Cartridge is stuck Replace Cartridge. 

Printer is doing self test correctly but is not printing by computer.

·  Check the interface cable and connection.

·   Install the printer driver in the computer.  Check whether the printer port is configured in the computer's OS. 

·        Check whether Parallel Port is Selected or Disabled by BIOS. 

· It can happen even if the printer circuit is bad. 

ASCII Character Printing.  (Self test is correct.)

· The driver software of the printer is incorrectly installed. 

·  Interface cable is defective.or loose connection. 

·  The printer port on the motherboard is damaged.  Install a separate printer port or use an older IDE card. 

Characters are being printed incorrectly or unknown type of character is being printed.

·  Some wires going from the printer head to the printer circuit are broken or connected incorrectly.

· Printer electronics have become defective. 

On doing Printer on, the head unit starts colliding by moving to one side.  does not come back 

In a correct DMP printer, once the head is moved forward, once the printer is turned on, it comes back. 

·   Printer Electronics has gone bad.  Check the sensor for the motor.

Printout is getting correct but the distance between the two lines is too much and the characters are too small.

. The printout characters may also be small due to font selection by the controller switch of the printer.  Set it to Normal.  

. The reason for more distance between two lines is wrong setting by DIP Switch, select it on the correct setting.  

Printout is very slow.  

DMP are suitable printers for DOS mode, their speed is reduced by Windows.  

. The speed may also be slow due to the matter being printed.  If there is a lot of Linux, Box, Table and Key etc. in the matter, then DMP will print very slowly.

Between printings, sometimes the head moves away from the width of the paper to the edge.

·        Replace Printer Cable Check for Loose connection. 

·        Use Tractor

·        The setting of DIP Switch is wrong. 

The characters of Printout are completely distorted.  

·        The pins of the printer head have become crooked. 

·        Do servicing by opening the head. 

The computer is hanging as soon as you connect Printer.

·        Printer Interface cable is short. 

·        There is a short circuit in Printer Electronics. 

·        DMP Maintanance

·        Do not run the DMP in low volts, run it only in sufficient volts, otherwise there is a high possibility of its circuit getting damaged. 

·        DMPs are suitable for DOS, their speed slows down in Windows and the workload on their heads becomes more.  So try to use DOS based application for DMP. 

·        Do not do Matter Design with more lines in Windows.  Printing will be slow. 

·        While removing print from Windows, keep its resolution low, it will get fast printout. 

·        Most of the errors of DMP are related to its Mechanism and Head, so keep servicing it from time to time or there will be a complaint of Printer Jam. 

·        Adjust the printer head in the back or middle only.  This will reduce the chances of breaking the pin. 

·        Replace the Ribbon Cartridge with a good brand of Ribbon when it dries or deteriorates a bit, otherwise there is a possibility of the pin breaking due to its head getting stuck or obstruction in the movement. 

·        More Fast and Clear Printout is obtained by DMP of 24 Pin but it requires more Precaution.  Its pins are much thinner and weaker than the 9Pin heads which tend to break with the slightest carelessness or use of a bad ribbon.

डॉट मैट्रिक्स प्रिंटर: चरित्र प्राप्त हुआ

प्रिंटआउट पूरा नहीं हुआ है, कैरेक्टर कट ऑफ हो रहा है।

· प्रिंट हेड यूनिट में कुछ पिन टूटे हुए हैं। उन्हें बदल दें।

· प्रिंट हेड का कुछ कॉइल क्षतिग्रस्त हो गया है जिसके कारण कुछ पिन नहीं निकल रहे हैं।

· प्रिंटर के सर्किट और हेड के बीच की केबल कहीं से कटी हुई है. या ढीला।

· पिन को एम्प्लीफाइड सिग्नल देने वाले एम्पलीफायर सर्किट में स्थापित कुछ ट्रांजिस्टर या आईसी खराब हैं, उन्हें बदल दें। उपयोग किए जा रहे प्रिंटर के लिए सही ड्राइवर सॉफ़्टवेयर उपलब्ध नहीं होने पर भी वर्ण स्पष्ट रूप से दिखाई नहीं देंगे। प्रिंट हेड यूनिट के कुछ पिन स्याही के सूखने के कारण जाम हो जाते हैं और काम नहीं करते हैं, प्रिंटर हेड को साफ करें और रिबन को बदल दें।

प्रिंट सही है लेकिन बहुत हल्का है।

· रिबन कार्ट्रिज की स्याही चली गई है। इसे फिर से भरें या बदलें।

· प्रिंट हेड बहुत पीछे की तरफ लगा होता है। हेड एडजस्टमेंट लीवर से इसे थोड़ा आगे की ओर फिक्स करें।

प्रिंटर स्वयं पेपर फीड नहीं कर रहा है, रोलर केएनओबी के माध्यम से पेपर फीड प्राप्त करने की आवश्यकता है।

· प्रिंटर का पेपर सेंसर खराब हो गया है।

· पेपर सेंसर ढीला हो गया है, इसका समायोजन खराब हो गया है।

· प्रिंटर सर्किट में डिप स्विच की सेटिंग गलत है, इसे प्रिंटर मैनुअल बुक की मदद से सेट करें।

· प्रिंटर के सर्किट और सेंसर के बीच की वायरिंग छूट गई है।

प्रिंटर टेढ़े-मेढ़े कागज को फीड कर रहा है और पेपर रोलर के बीच सो रहा है। 

· डीएमपी प्रिंटर में रोलर को एडजस्ट करने के लिए एक लीवर होता है, इस फ्रिक्शन और 'ट्रैक्टर' से दो मोड चुने जा सकते हैं। 'ट्रैक्टर' मोड में केवल कंप्यूटर पेपर का उपयोग किया जाता है। कंप्यूटर पेपर ट्रैक्टर से जुड़ा होता है। जिसकी मदद से कागज आसानी से भर जाता है, इसमें रोलर की उपयोगिता कम हो जाती है और कागज आसानी से रोलर्स के बीच खिसक जाता है।

सिंगल पेपर या जेरोक्स पेपर का उपयोग फ्रिक्शन मोड में किया जाता है, यह पेपर को मूव करते ही फीड करता है। यहां रोलर अपने घूर्णन के साथ-साथ कागज को भी खिलाता है।

· कागज़ के सो जाने की स्थिति में, जाँच करें कि रोलर ट्रैक्टर की तरफ है या नहीं।

· प्रिंटर के तंत्र की सर्विसिंग और रोलर के लीवर को समायोजित करना।

. रोलर को घीस करने पर भी यह समस्या आ सकती है।

प्रिंटर पेपर फीड कर टॉप में बहुत ज्यादा जगह छोड़ रहा है। जब सॉफ्टवेयर सेटिंग द्वारा कम जगह छोड़ी जाती है।

· यह समस्या प्रिंटर की प्रोग्रामिंग से संबंधित है। इसे प्रिंटर के कंट्रोलर स्विच द्वारा सेट किया जा सकता है। इसकी जानकारी 'कंट्रोल विच' के साथ भी दी जाती है या इसकी जानकारी प्रिंटर की मैनुअल बुक में भी होती है।

प्रिंटर प्रिंटिंग को बीच में ही रोक रहा है। (प्रिंटर चालू रहता है)

· प्रिंटर पर्याप्त वोल्ट प्राप्त नहीं कर रहा है। मैं लो वोल्टेज हूं।

· प्रिंटर और कंप्यूटर के बीच इंटरफेस केबल को बदलें, यह खराब हो सकता है।

· जांचें कि कंप्यूटर और प्रिंटर दोनों सिरों प्रिंटर केबल से ठीक से जुड़े हुए हैं, कहीं ढीला कनेक्शन हो सकता है।

· प्रिंटर के सर्किट में कोई खराबी हो सकती है|

· प्रिंटर रिबन रिप्लेस द रिबन हिंज को फंसाकर सिर को ब्लॉक कर रहा है।

· प्रिंटर मैकेनिज्म की जरूरत सर्विसिंग मैकेनिज्म जाम हो गया है।

आधा पन्ना छापा जा रहा है, बाकी का मामला छापा नहीं जा रहा है और आधा पन्ना खाली छोड़ा जा रहा है.

. प्रिंटर ड्राइवर सॉफ़्टवेयर द्वारा सही आकार के पेपर का चयन नहीं किया गया है। आप जिस आकार के कागज का उपयोग कर रहे हैं, उसी आकार के कागज का सॉफ्टवेयर द्वारा चयन करें।

. यदि एक प्रिंटर शेयरर द्वारा दो प्रिंटर का उपयोग किया जा रहा है तो शेयरर डिवाइस खराब हो सकता है। प्रिंटर का सही डिवाइस ड्राइवर स्थापित नहीं किया गया है। शेयर को हटाकर प्रिंटआउट चेक करें।

दिया गया प्रिंटआउट सही ढंग से प्राप्त नहीं हो रहा है, कागज पर गलत आकार और गलत जगह पर प्रिंटआउट प्राप्त हो रहा है। जहां मैटर स्क्रीन पर राइट दिख रहा है।

· प्रिंटर का ड्राइवर गलत है, प्रिंटर मॉडल और ब्रांड का मिलान करने के बाद, सही ड्राइवर सॉफ़्टवेयर स्थापित करें।

· इटरफ़ेस केबल को बदलने का प्रयास करें।

· यदि प्रिंटर शेयरिंग डिवाइस स्थापित है, तो उसे हटाकर उसका परीक्षण करें। शेयरर ख़राब हो सकता है।

 पेपर फीड होने के बावजूद पेपर आउट का संकेतक चमक रहा है।

. पेपर सेंसर खराब है।

. प्रिंटर सर्किट में डिप स्विच का संरेखण गलत है, इसे सेट करें।

· प्रिंटर का सर्किट खराब है।

पेपर खत्म होने के बाद भी छपाई जारी है, पेपर आउट का मैसेज नहीं मिल रहा है।

. पेपर सेंसर के कनेक्शन की जांच करें।

· डिप स्विच सेट करें।

कागज जाम हो रहा है और कागज छपाई के बीच फंस रहा है। (सभी एलईडी ब्लिंक जलने लगती हैं।)

· प्रिंटर की सर्विसिंग। प्रिंटर मैकेनिज्म जाम हो गया है।

· प्रिंटर का रिबन कार्ट्रिज फंस गया है कार्ट्रिज बदलें।

प्रिंटर सेल्फ टेस्ट सही तरीके से कर रहा है लेकिन कंप्यूटर से प्रिंट नहीं हो रहा है।

· इंटरफ़ेस केबल और कनेक्शन की जाँच करें।

. कंप्यूटर में प्रिंटर ड्राइवर स्थापित करें। 

. जांचें कि प्रिंटर पोर्ट कंप्यूटर के ओएस में कॉन्फ़िगर किया गया है या नहीं।

· जांचें कि पैरेलल पोर्ट BIOS द्वारा चयनित या अक्षम है या नहीं।

. प्रिंटर सर्किट खराब होने पर भी ऐसा हो सकता है।

ASCII कैरेक्टर प्रिंटिंग। (स्वयं परीक्षण सही है।)

· प्रिंटर का ड्राइवर सॉफ्टवेयर गलत तरीके से स्थापित है।

· इंटरफेस केबल खराब है या ढीला कनेक्शन है।

· मदरबोर्ड पर प्रिंटर पोर्ट क्षतिग्रस्त है। एक अलग प्रिंटर पोर्ट स्थापित करें या पुराने आईडीई कार्ड का उपयोग करें।

अक्षरों को गलत तरीके से मुद्रित किया जा रहा है या अज्ञात प्रकार का वर्ण मुद्रित किया जा रहा है।

· प्रिंटर हेड से प्रिंटर सर्किट में जाने वाले कुछ तार टूट गए हैं या गलत तरीके से जुड़े हुए हैं।

. प्रिंटर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स खराब हो गए हैं।

प्रिंटर ऑन करने पर हेड यूनिट एक तरफ खिसकने लगती है। वापस नहीं आता

एक सही डीएमपी प्रिंटर में, एक बार सिर को आगे ले जाने के बाद, एक बार प्रिंटर चालू हो जाने पर, यह वापस आ जाता है।

· प्रिंटर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स खराब हो गया है। मोटर के लिए सेंसर की जाँच करें।

प्रिंटआउट सही हो रहा है लेकिन दो पंक्तियों के बीच की दूरी बहुत अधिक है और वर्ण बहुत छोटे हैं।

.प्रिंटर के नियंत्रक स्विच द्वारा फ़ॉन्ट चयन के कारण प्रिंटआउट वर्ण छोटे भी हो सकते हैं। इसे नॉर्मल पर सेट करें।

. दो लाइनों के बीच अधिक दूरी का कारण डीआईपी स्विच द्वारा गलत सेटिंग है, इसे सही सेटिंग पर चुनें।प्रिंटआउट बहुत धीमा है।

डीएमपी डॉस मोड के लिए उपयुक्त प्रिंटर हैं, विंडोज़ द्वारा उनकी गति कम कर दी जाती है।

. मामला छपने के कारण गति धीमी भी हो सकती है। यदि मामले में बहुत अधिक मात्रा में Linux, Box, Table और Key आदि है, तो DMP बहुत धीरे-धीरे प्रिंट होगा।

छपाई के बीच, कभी-कभी सिर कागज की चौड़ाई से दूर किनारे तक चला जाता है।

· ढीले कनेक्शन के लिए प्रिंटर केबल चेक बदलें।

· ट्रैक्टर का प्रयोग करें

· डीआईपी स्विच की सेटिंग गलत है।

प्रिंटआउट के पात्र पूरी तरह से विकृत हैं।

· प्रिंटर हेड के पिन टेढ़े हो गए हैं।

· सिर खोलकर सर्विसिंग करें.

प्रिंटर कनेक्ट करते ही कंप्यूटर हैंग हो जाता है।

· प्रिंटर इंटरफेस केबल छोटा है।

· प्रिंटर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स में शॉर्ट सर्किट होता है।

· डीएमपी रखरखाव

· डीएमपी को कम वोल्ट में न चलाएं, इसे पर्याप्त वोल्ट में ही चलाएं, अन्यथा इसके सर्किट के क्षतिग्रस्त होने की प्रबल संभावना है.

· डीएमपी डॉस के लिए उपयुक्त होते हैं, विंडोज़ में उनकी गति धीमी हो जाती है और उनके सिर पर काम का बोझ अधिक हो जाता है। तो डीएमपी के लिए डॉस आधारित एप्लिकेशन का उपयोग करने का प्रयास करें।

. विंडोज़ में अधिक लाइनों के साथ मैटर डिज़ाइन न करें। छपाई धीमी होगी।

· विंडोज से प्रिंट निकालते समय उसका रिजॉल्यूशन कम रखें, इससे तेजी से प्रिंटआउट निकलेगा।

·डीएमपी की ज्यादातर त्रुटियां इसके मैकेनिज्म और हेड से जुड़ी होती हैं, इसलिए समय-समय पर इसकी सर्विस कराते रहें अन्यथा प्रिंटर जैम की शिकायत होगी।

· प्रिंटर हेड को केवल पीछे या बीच में एडजस्ट करें। इससे पिन टूटने की संभावना कम हो जाएगी।

· रिबन कार्ट्रिज को रिबन के अच्छे ब्रांड से बदल दें जब यह सूख जाए या थोड़ा खराब हो जाए, अन्यथा इसके सिर के फंसने या चलने में रुकावट के कारण पिन टूटने की संभावना है।

· 24 पिन के डीएमपी द्वारा अधिक तेज और स्पष्ट प्रिंटआउट प्राप्त किया जाता है लेकिन इसके लिए अधिक सावधानी की आवश्यकता होती है। इसके पिन 9पिन हेड्स की तुलना में बहुत पतले और कमजोर होते हैं जो थोड़ी सी भी लापरवाही या खराब रिबन के उपयोग से टूट जाते हैं।
