SIMPLE PROBLEM FOR NO DISPLAY

 Fourth Problem For No Display

Simple Problems For No Display:-

(1) No display ( no beep, no memory tick, no post ):-

First test for all conditions of third page.

. Check the hard disk or CD drive cables for a reverse connection on either side of the motherboard or drive. This display will not be received if there is a   reverse connection on either side.

. Turn ON the system by taking out the RAM, if any beep is being received then it mean, there is a problem with the RAM, if the beep is not received, put the ram back in the socket itself.

. Remove all the interface card and turn ON the system to beep. On receiving the beep, connect all the interface card in turn, which stops the beep once the card is connected. Get that card replaced/ check.

. Test the RAM to be fine or faulty by plugging it into another system.

. Test for the display by clearing the CMOS of the motherboard once.

. Try plugging the SD RAM into another empty socket.

.Try changing SMPS. Disconnect the reset switch.

If there is motherboard and SMPS ATX, test the connection of the power switch.

. If the microprocessor is slot one type, test it for loss connected.

 2.  No display (as soon as the system is turned ON, the AC input also starts dropping.):-

. Check the AC on/off switch of the SMPS for incorrect connection. The power switch             may be short.

.The connection to DC O/P socket received by SMPS may be incorrect.

. There is a fault in the SMPS circuit. (Mainly these faults are of SMPS.)

3. No display (NO Beep, NO Post)( all three LED on the keyboard keep glowing.):-

·        RAM is absent in the mother board.

·        IDE drives (HDD, LDD drive, CD writer) the data cable connection is incorrect. (May be reversed.)

·        There is a short circuit in the motherboard.

·        Processor RAM can be bad.

In above fault remove every connection from motherboard keep only processor and PC speaker connected and now by checking connection connected on motherboard by SMPS turn ON SMPS if any beep is getting then on the system and do the beep test. If the display is getting correct after connecting all the devices then it means that a drive or connection was wrongly connected in the previous connection.

. Test the processor on another motherboard.

. Check the beep by putting RAM in the motherboard.

. Motherboard may be at fault.

. Some older keyboard that have AT and ATX switch have all three LED ON, but the               display also comes ON.

4. No Display (NO Beep):-

. Try replacing RAM, RAM can be shot.

. Check the display by clearing the CMOS.

. Check all O/P volts of SMPS. If none is received this error may come.

. Jumper setting may be required.(in older types of motherboards)

. There can be mismatching between motherboard, RAM and processor. E.g.:-

1. There is a difference in the bus speed of the RAM and the motherboard.

2. Motherboard is not supporting high speed.

. Recheck all the connection once.

. There is an error in any VLSI of the motherboard.(motherboard has become defective)

. Test by plugging the microprocessor onto another motherboard. (the processor may be           defective)

5. No Display (only regular beep):-

The main reason for this error is that the motherboard is not getting RAM, it can be due to the following reasons.

.  RAM is bed.

. The mismatches are due to the difference in bus speed between the motherboard and             the   RAM.

. RAM loss is connected, it is not properly inserted.

. RAM socket pins are broken or twisted.

. Try plugging the RAM into another empty RAM socket.

. Motherboard/Bios is bad.

In Pentium motherboard, if EDO RAM is installed in place of DIMM, then pair RAM is required. In this, one of the RAM is bad or both the RAM being of different brand, there are miss matches.

6.   No Display (post OK, one beep):-

Giving a beep means that the system is in display-worthy condition. Here the main display card is between the error and the monitor. Like:-

. The monitor is not properly connected to the display card.

. Set the contrast and brightness of the monitor.

. Test the display by connecting the monitor t another system.

. There is an error in the display card, test it by installing another display card.

. The display card is mismatching with the motherboard.

7.   No Display (2 Beep):-

. The monitor is not properly connected to the display card.

. There is a fault in the interface cable of the monitor.

. The monitor port of VGA card is defective.

. VGA card is defective.
